Oilers GM Opens Up About Signing Evander Kane and Upcoming Trades

Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland met with the media on Tuesday and confirmed our reports as the team is indeed interested in signing Evander Kane. Holland also opened up about what to expect from the Oilers when it comes to the trade deadline.

Holland would love to add a player with Kane's abilities and mentioned he always believes in second chances:

I believe in second chances. It's hard to be perfect

Even with the NHLPA's grievance that was reportedly filed over the weekend, Kane is free to sign with any club and word is the news could be coming very soon. The 30-year-old hasn't played in the NHL this season but did put up eight points in five games in the AHL.

Another topic of discussion for Holland on Tuesday was the trade potential out of Edmonton. The team isn't exactly where they thought they would be in the standings and their goaltending has been disappointing to say the least. While many across the league feel the team should be moving its first round pick for some talent, even if it's a rental, Holland surprised many with his response:

I wouldn't do that. I think the answer's in that locker room

At 18-14-2 on the season and outside of the playoff picture, Oilers fans may have other opinions on that one, Mr. Holland.
