NHL Rumors: Predators Shopping Star Forward

The Nashville Predators are "actively shopping" Filip Forsberg, according to Andy Strickland.

This is a bit of a strange development, as the Predators currently have a 29-18-4 record and are well on their way to being a playoff team this spring. However, with Forsberg's contract expiring and no signs of an extension coming to fruition yet, it does make it a bit more understandable. Nashville wants to maximize the assets they get back for the star winger instead of losing him for nothing.

In 38 games this season, Forsberg has an impressive 26 goals to go along with 44 total points. He is on pace to have a career year and will certainly get a monstrous raise in the process because of it. With how well he's playing, there will be a large market for his services - whether talking about the deadline or free agency.

If Strickland's report is true, we could see Forsberg playing for a new team by next month. If so, it will be intriguing to see how Nashville's year ends.
