Golden Knights Rumors: Team Seriously Looking To Add Goaltender

The Vegas Golden Knights have lost their All-Star starting goalie Logan Thompson to injury as he is listed as week-to-week. This can be seen as a good and bad time for this news to come for this team as they are in the thick of a playoff race, but also have time to make a move to add a goaltender before the 2023 Trade Deadline.

The Golden Knights can run with Adin Hill and Laurent Brossoit as their tandem for now, but that may not work out the best. Brossoit has been in the AHL since returning from his season-opening injury where he was replaced in the NHL. His numbers in the AHL haven't been amazing either, posting an 8-11-3 record and a .909 save percentage. He has a career .905 SV% and -16.7 goals saved above average. Brossoit is also coming off his first season with the Golden Knights where he had an .895 SV% as the backup.

Hill was brought in at the start of the season, but has been the clear backup goalie. His numbers are fairly good with a 12-5-1 record and a .911 SV%. He has been better in a backup role in his career, so it will be a big task if the Golden Knights don't go out and get someone who can help carry the weight.

As Brossoit has been a hopeful trade piece for the Golden Knights all season because of his cap hit in the minors, he isn't the solution. Frank Seravalli reported that Vegas is 100% in on the goaltending market after the injury to Thompson. Potential names that have been floating around the market include Karel Vejmelka, Joonas Korpisalo, Cam Talbot, James Reimer, and Anton Khudobin. Another issue that will arise is what happens when Thompson comes back if a goaltender is acquired. But that's a problem for a later time. The Golden Knights' goal is to make the playoffs.
