Washington Capitals Rumors: Defenseman Becoming Trade Candidate

While on TSN Insider Trading, NHL insider Chris Johnston reported that Dmitry Orlov's name is starting to come up in trade talks due to the Washington Capitals' struggles and extension talks not going well between both parties.

This is certainly an intriguing development, as Orlov is a legitimate top-four defenseman while playing at his best. As a result, there should be no shortage of teams interested in acquiring him. The 31-year-old offers a nice blend of offensive production from the point, immense physicality, and reliable defensive play. As a result, the Capitals could land a nice return for him, and it is an avenue worth exploring if they are unable to climb the standings before the deadline is here.

Orlov has appeared in 43 games this season with the Capitals, where he has three goals, 19 points, and a plus-2 rating. Expect the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings, Minnesota Wild, and Vegas Golden Knights to be some teams interested in bringing him in by March 3.
