NHL Rumors: Vegas Golden Knights Defenseman Could Be Moved

In a recent article for Daily Faceoff, NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported that Alec Martinez is a trade candidate heading into the offseason.

The Vegas Golden Knights have limited cap space and would benefit from moving Martinez and his $5.25 million cap hit immensely. The veteran defenseman had a down year in 2022-23 as well, as he had just 14 points in 77 games. As a result, this could lead Vegas to try to move him. However, due to his expensive cap hit mixed with his low production, the Golden Knights would unlikely receive much of anything for him.

Martinez could get some interest around the league when noting that he is a two-time Stanley Cup champion with 14 years of NHL experience. In 763 career NHL games, Martinez has 79 goals, 181 assists, 260 points, and a plus-90 rating. We will need to wait and see if he ends up being moved this offseason from here.
