NHL News: Edmonton Oilers Get Bad Zach Hyman Injury Update

Zach Hyman, Edmonton Oilers

While the Edmonton Oilers picked up a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final, it did come with some bad news. Oilers star Zach Hyman exited the game with an injury during the first period after receiving a hit from Stars forward Mason Marchment.

Now, an update has been provided on Hyman, and it is certainly not a good one. While speaking to reporters, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch announced that Hyman is undergoing surgery and his postseason is likely over.

Oilers Will Certainly Miss Hyman In The Lineup

This is certainly bad news for the Oilers, as Hyman is an incredibly important part of their roster. The 32-year-old winger has had a strong postseason for Edmonton, posting five goals, 11 points, and a plus-10 rating in 15 games. He also currently leads the NHL in hits this postseason with an impressive 111. This is after he had just 59 hits in 73 games during the regular season.

The Oilers will now need to adjust without having Hyman in their lineup for at least Game 5 from here. After winning Game 4, the Oilers currently have a 3-1 series lead over the Stars and will look to eliminate them on the road in Game 5 without Hyman from here.
