Breaking NHL Trade: Evander Kane Announces That He Has Been Traded by the Oilers
A big trade has come down out west, as Evander Kane has announced himself on social media that he has been traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the Vancouver Canucks.
As my time with the @EdmontonOilers has now come to a close, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank the entire organization, my teammates, and the incredible community of Edmonton.

Evander Kane has been traded to Vancouver, his agent Dan Milstein confirms, but he says Canucks/Oilers still waiting on official trade call with the league.

Three teams were interested, Milstein says. Kane goes back home to Van which was the player's preference.
Insider Pierre LeBrun says three teams were in talks with the Oilers, but in the end, Kane is thrilled to be heading to his hometown of Vancouver.
"I’m incredibly excited for the next chapter of my career as I join the Canucks," wrote Kane in his social media post announcing the trade.
"It’s an honor to become part of an organization and team I grew up watching as a kid. Vancouver is a city that lives and breathes hockey, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to play in front of my hometown as I did many years ago as a Vancouver Giant."
The Canucks send a fourth-round draft pick to Edmonton in the deal, and no salary was retained on Kane's $5.125 million cap hit that expires after next season.
Insider Frank Seravalli wondered just this past week, in this latest Trade Board, if Kane had "worn out his welcome" in Oil Country. The player's season finished in controversy in Edmonton after he snubbed the Stanley Cup handshake line. The team was also under investigation for an LTIR controversy surrounding Kane.
A 16-year veteran, Kane sat out the entire 2024-25 regular season with an injury, then returned in the playoffs. He recorded 12 points in 21 games while handing out 91 hits and recording a +4 rating.
