Oilers' head coach unsure which goaltender to play in Game 6

The Edmonton Oilers have goaltending issues and they've become so bad that head coach Kris Knoblauch doesn't know which direction to go for Game 6.

The Oilers lost Game 5 in convincing fashion Saturday night, after Brad Marchand's two goals led the Florida Panthers to victory. Calvin Pickard started but struggled, and took home his first loss of the postseason. Heading into Game 6, Knoblauch knows the decision could make or break the Oilers' season.

"That's a conversation with the staff, obviously our goaltending coach Dustin Schwartz, but with all the assistants, general manager (Stan Bowman), to kind of weigh in with how everyone feels and what's best moving forward," he said Sunday.

"And it's not an easy decision. We've got two goalies that have shown that they can play extremely well, win hockey games. We feel that no matter who we choose, they can win the game."

In order to get back into the win column, the Oilers will need to start on time. Florida has outscored them 7-0 in the first period of the Stanley Cup Final, a trend that cannot continue in Game 6. "Absolutely, (it'd help) when the pressure's not on them that they have to make every single save to keep this close or keep us ahead," he said. "It'd be nice to get some goal support."

The Oilers and Panthers faceoff at 8pm on Tuesday night, and as it stands right now, Edmonton has no idea who will be in net. A very interesting position to be with their season on the line heading into Game 6 down 3-2 in the series.
