Canadiens Trade Mailloux To Blues In 1-For-1 Deal
The St. Louis Blues and Montreal Canadiens made a trade, but not the one that many have been hearing about and waiting for. This trade involved two young players. The Blues acquire Logan Mailloux and send Zack Bolduc back to the Canadiens.

To #GoHabsGo:
Zach Bolduc
To #Stlblues:
Logan Mailloux
The Canadiens are much more rich on the back-end with young talent, especially after acquiring Noah Dobson not that long ago. That essentially spelled the end for Mailloux in Montreal since he plays the right side as well and wouldn’t have gotten top-4 minutes with the Canadiens also pushing to be more competitive.
Bolduc comes in after scoring 19 goals and 36 points in 72 games, his first full season in the NHL. He had previously only played 25 games. The 22-year-old will likely play in the middle-6 and give the Canadiens a young NHLer with upside.
The Blues, on the other hand, are much more rich with young forwards and are trying to alter the look of their defense, preferably getting younger. They started that by signing Philip Broberg to an offer sheet ahead of last season. Now, the team moved on from Ryan Suter and Torey Krug will remain on the LTIR.
With Jimmy Snuggerud, Jake Neighbours, Dylan Holloway, Dalibor Dvorsky, Nikita Alexandrov, and Otto Stenberg, the Blues could afford to swap a forward for a defense. Mailloux should get regular third pairing minutes as I expect the Blues to favour him over Tyler Tucker or Matthew Kessel.
