Oilers Trade Arvidsson To Bruins
The Edmonton Oilers manage to finally shed the contract of Viktor Arvidsson by trading him to the Boston Bruins. No salary is being retained in the trade and the Oilers are getting a fifth-round pick in 2027 back from Boston.

To #NHLBruins:
Viktor Arvidsson
To #Oilers:
2027 5th Round Pick
No salary retained on Arvidsson.
It was reported that Arvidsson was willing to work with the Oilers and waive his no-trade clause to find a place to play more. He only played 15 of the 22 games in the playoffs for the Oilers and was up and down the lineup. The Oilers’ plan is to get younger and they did so by moving off of the final year of Arvidsson’s deal at $4 million AAV.
Boston has a weaker winger group, and after making three smaller signings yesterday, they make another move just before free agency opens. Even after adding Arvidsson, who should easily fit into the top-9 somewhere in the lineup, the Bruins have nearly $9 million in projected cap to still spend.
In Arvidsson’s one and only season with the Oilers, he scored 15 goals and 27 points in 67 games before putting up two goals and seven points in 15 playoff games. He never really fit with the Oilers, but he is a five-time 20-goal scorer, two-time 30-goal scorer, and has put up over 60 points twice in his career. Arvidsson is 32 years old and I would confidently say he plays the majority of next season on the second line.
