Flames' Nazem Kadri comments on ongoing trade rumors
Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri is focused on winning, at least for now.
The veteran center has been the talk of the league when it comes to trade rumors so far this season, due in large part to the struggles the Flames are having, and the likelihood that GM Craig Conroy has a fire sale and kick-starts a rebuild.
Kadri is used to this, and he's open to discuss it with the media. "I've had to approach a lot more difficult situations than something like this," Kadri told Sportsnet's Eric Francis. "So for me, it's really nothing that draws my attention. Obviously, there's going to be some questions about it. I'm okay to answer them, but at the end of the day I'm focused on winning hockey games. I don't think there's anything, from a media PR standpoint, that I haven't seen.
Elliotte Friedman stated the team wasn't going to move him before his 1000th game, which comes up in roughly a couple of weeks. After that, however, everything is on the table.
Kadri has two seasons left on his contract at $8 million AAV and holds a 13-team no-trade clause. There's been plenty of teams reaching out to Conroy to see if they are on the list and even some teams that are trying to convince Kadri to join them.
Keep an eye on the Colorado Avalanche and the Vancouver Canucks, two teams who seem to be super interested in making a deal to land Kadri in the coming weeks.
