Blues Expected To Make Moves Within The Next Week

Doug Armstrong, St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues are struggling, and along with being 5-8-3 on the season, they have just two wins in their past 10 games. It doesn't appear like the Blues' management is going to sit still and let the team continue to struggle, making moves to get value back for some of their players, but not rebuild.

Frank Seravalli said, "Doug Armstrong doesn't sit on his hands. Keep an eye on the Blues in the next 5-10 days. My understanding is they have been pretty aggressive already."

Seravalli also added, "As he makes the rounds, Blues' GM Doug Armstrong has let teams know he's 'open for business.'"

Blues that have been brought up in trade rumors include Jordan Kyrou, Brayden Schenn, Justin Faulk, and Jordan Binnington. All of these players have larger contracts, whether close to the end of their deals or not. Kyrou and Faulk would likely give the most value to their new teams, while Schenn and Binnington could bring a nice presence in the playoffs. Binnington hasn't been a regular season goalie in his career, but he steps up his game when the games matter more.

If any or most of these players are traded from the Blues, whether that be soon, ahead of the trade deadline, or in the summer, it doesn't seem like just picks, prospects, or both will be coming back. The Blues aren't trying to rebuild and have some good young talent and NHL-ready talent. More of that would be encouraged as return pieces in trades if the Blues can swing that.

Armstrong is a good GM who has made some good moves and drafted well. The Blues should continue to trust in his process to help turn the team around again, even if they take a year or two off from being in contention for the playoffs.
