Canucks Head Coach Calls Out Veteran Core As Losing, Trade Rumors Continue
The Vancouver Canucks have been the laughing stock of the NHL this season, and the drama continues on the west coast. After another disappointing loss this week, Canucks head coach Adam Foote went public with his frustration, which is exactly what this hockey team doesn't need at the moment.
Foote wasn't happy with the effort level of some of his veterans, and had some very interesting comments after the Canucks' 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders, their 11th in a row.
Our veterans are the ones that feel defeated first. It's been going on here for a few years. We get off our game, we get frustrated, we over-complicate it...It's something we have to get out of our culture. Our culture's not going to be that anymore.
After the team has already moved on from Quinn Hughes and Kiefer Sherwood, there appears to be more moves coming. Conor Garland is a name that's been linked to several teams, including the Boston Bruins. Jake DeBrusk was a healthy scratch earlier in the season and apparently was not happy about it and went to management, which means he could be on the move before the deadline.
The biggest fish that could be fried is Elias Pettersson, who is involved in trade talks as we speak, but holds a full no-movement clause and has full control of his destiny, which his agent loves to remind everyone about, what seems like daily.
Pettersson is likely being dealt to the Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings or Los Angeles Kings, and these talks could be advancing before the Olympic break. Regardless, more moves are coming from the Canucks, as management is ready for a full tear down, and now their head coach is growing frustrated by his leadership group.
