Radko Gudas Intends to Play Against Leafs Despite Walking Boot
The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing the Anaheim Ducks on Monday night. And you know that this team, which has shown some fight and gumption in the games AFTER Gudas chopped down Auston Matthews with his dirty hit, would love to get a crack at him for some revenge.
But Gudas was in a walking boot after Thursday's Ducks game following an awkward fall against the boards. He didn't play in Anaheim's game on Saturday. That would give him an 'out' from having to face the music against the Leafs on Monday.
But the man they call "The Butcher" is apparently not running away from having to face Toronto, according to insider Elliotte Friedman on Hockey Night in Canada.
Gudas has apparently said he wants to play Monday night against the Leafs no matter what... He recognizes that the Maple Leafs want a piece of him, and he wants to play.
He's supposed to see the doctors on Sunday, and we'll see what they have to say. But Gudas has made his feelings very clear: He wants to play...
He has said, 'No matter what happens, I wanna dress (for the game),' and we'll have to see what the diagnosis is and what the doctors and the Ducks have to say.
But we have to keep in mind that the Anaheim Ducks have bigger fish to fry, as they're trying to hang on to first place in the Pacific Division. They lead the Edmonton Oilers by just three points after a big loss to them on Saturday, and they absolutely want to have Gudas in the lineup down the stretch and into the playoffs. They won't want to risk him either re-injuring his leg, or having a Leafs player do something that might take him out of the lineup.
Something to watch over the next 24 hours.
