McDavid & Draisaitl on Oilers: 'Organization has taken a step back'
The walls are caving in on the Edmonton Oilers.
After getting ousted by the Anaheim Ducks in the first-round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Oilers stars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid addressed the media on Saturday, and frankly, they didn't hold anything back.
Both Draisaitl and McDavid took accountability to not leading the team to the promised land, but they were also very blunt in their assessment of management, and the organization as a whole, stating the entire organization has taken a giant step in the wrong direction.
With McDavid only having two years left on his contract, and eligible to sign another extension next July, the Oilers essentially only have one year to get it right. If the team doesn't win next season, there's a very good chance McDavid notifies management he won't be re-signing, and a trade in the final year of his contract could transpire.
Here's both Draisaitl and McDavid's press conferences, as things are heating up in all the wrong ways in Edmonton:
"He's signed for two more years and God knows where that goes, but we have two years here right now. We have to get significantly better."
