NHL Rumors: 3 Trade Destinations for Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere
The New York Rangers should be in for a busy offseason as they continue their retool. One of their top trade candidates to watch this summer is forward Alexis Lafreniere. The 2020 first-overall pick has been in the rumor mill for quite some time and could use a change of scenery.
Because of this, let's take a look at three teams that could target Lafreniere this offseason.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks are in desperate need of help in their top six. Connor Bedard needs better wingers around him, so it would make a lot of sense if the Blackhawks pursued a young forward like Lafreniere. If Lafreniere took that next step in Chicago, he would end up being a nice long-term part of their core.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets could be another team to keep an eye on when it comes to Lafreniere. When looking at their roster, it is clear that they have yet to find a true replacement for Nikolaj Ehlers since he signed with the Carolina Hurricanes last offseason. With this, it would make a lot of sense if Winnipeg pursued Lafrenire during the offseason.
Montreal Canadiens
The Canadiens have long been linked to Lafreniere, and it would not be surprising if they looked to add him this summer because of it. The Canadiens are entering their window as true contenders and should be on the hunt for another top-six forward this offseason because of it. Lafreniere would be a good player for them to add, and he is still young enough that he would fit into their core very nicely.
