The Carolina Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup this past season, and during general manager Eric Tulsky's eventual exit interview, he shed some light on the health of his roster. It turns out, several players played through some pretty crazy injuries.

This includes Hurricanes forward Seth Jarvis. The top-line winger underwent shoulder surgery after the team's Stanley Cup victory, and is expected to be out for up to six months. This could certainly play into next season, and there's a very good chance Jarvis won't be ready for the opening of training camp.

Jarvis battled through the nagging injury throughout the later stages of the season, and did a ton of rehab work on a daily basis, just to be able to put the jersey on throughout the late stages of the regular season. He fought through the pain during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and eventually used his injured shoulder to help lift the Cup.

“Shoulders are tough,” Tulsky said after the first round of the NHL draft. “Once it goes, you can keep aggravating it and it can limit what you can do and it’s tough. And eventually it needs to be repaired. You can strengthen it and try to get through it, and he did that for a while.”

Tulsky also confirmed that fourth-line forward Eric Robinson underwent knee surgery and is expected to be out for six to eight weeks.

As for Jarvis, he's dealt with shoulder issues before, dating back to the 2023-24 season when he had a labrum and rotator-cuff issue.

“If we had missed the playoffs last year, he probably would've last summer, I would guess,” Tulsky said. "But we had a deep run and he started looking at the timeline and didn't want to miss a big chunk of the season. Then we got to this year and had another deep run.

“At some point, you just need to do it. You can't be limited for the rest of your career. You start thinking: Maybe we're going to have deep runs every year, you're just going to have to bite the bullet and get it done.”
