SIGNED: Stuart Skinner Signs With Canadian Team

The Winnipeg Jets are adding another NHL-tested goalie, signing Stuart Skinner as free agency continues to move fast.

Per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Skinner is signing with Winnipeg on a two-year deal worth $3.75 million per season.

For a Jets team that had a rough step back last season, this is a pretty clear move to stabilize the crease behind Connor Hellebuyck and give them another goalie with real workload experience. Or, maybe this marks the end of Hellebuyck's time in Winnipeg.

Skinner spent last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins after previously being part of the Edmonton Oilers’ playoff runs. He finished the 2025-26 regular season with a 23-17-9 record, a 2.92 goals-against average, an .888 save percentage, and two shutouts.

Skinner gives them a backup option who has played meaningful games, handled pressure, and logged starter-level stretches before. If Hellebuyck does get traded, expect Skinner to step into the starter role right away.

The price is reasonable enough, too. At two years and $3.75 million per season, Skinner gets security without forcing Winnipeg into a long-term commitment.
