The Detroit Red Wings are finally going full throttle on their search for a new president of hockey operations and/or general manager. Another round of interviews took place on Thursday.

Several names have emerged as potential candidates/interviewees.

According to Max Bultman, Red Wings beat writer for The Athletic, the following names are likely to join the previously mentioned Jeff Greenberg, who, intriguingly, is the current GM of major league baseball's Detroit Tigers, under consideration for the job.

Brett Peterson, Florida Panthers assistant GM

Peterson's name came up several times earlier this summer, under consideration for some of the other GM openings around the NHL, including the Vancouver Canucks. But he has thus far stayed in Florida. Peterson was hired by the Panthers in 2020 and helped the team to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships as a member of their front office.

Jeff Kealty, San Jose Sharks assistant GM

Kealty was just hired as assistant general manager of the Sharks only a month ago. His role is to oversee the team's professional scouting staff as well as work closely with GM Mike Grier on all aspects of Hockey Operations. The 50-year-old spent the previous eight seasons as AGM & Director of Scouting for the Nashville Predators.

Darren Yorke, Carolina Hurricanes associate general manager

Yorke has been with the Canes for the last 17 seasons, helping to lead them to the Cup this past spring. He is involved in all player personnel decisions, oversees amateur scouting and player development, and is responsible for the team’s draft.

Tyler Dellow, Carolina Hurricanes assistant general manager

Another front office exec with a Stanley Cup ring in Raleigh, Dellow is an analytics guy, responsible for overseeing data analysis as well as compliance with the NHL’s salary cap and collective bargaining agreement.

The process in Detroit will continue, with an eye on replacing the outgoing Steve Yzerman, who stepped down as hockey ops boss last month, not too long after team captain Dylan Larkin told the club he wants to be traded.
