The NHL's trade market has slowed down considerably since the calendar flipped to August, but that doesn't mean there aren't minor deals being finalized. On Monday, the Carolina Hurricanes announced they've acquired winger Stiven Sardarian from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for future considerations.

Sardarian is a former third-round pick of the Sabres back in 2021, 88th overall, and was recently named Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) forward of the year in 2026 and a first time all-star after leading the CCHA in assists, and points.

The St. Petersburg, Russia native spent last season with Michigan Technological University, and scored 12 goals and added 32 points in 37 regular season games. Sardarian has yet to prove himself as a legit NHL prospect, but dating back to his college career, it spans across 133 total NCAA games, including spending time at the University of New Hampshire. Sardarian recorded 100 points in his college career.

Before his college career, the Russian winger tallied 25 points (8g, 17a) in 46 USHL games with the Youngstown Phantoms in 2021-22 and also spent the majority of the 2020-21 season with Krasnaya Armiya Moskva in the MHL, recording nine goals and 21 assists for 30 points in 50 games.
