QMJHL Team Invites Female Goalie Eve Gascon to Training Camp

Eve Gascon is looking to make the jump into major junior hockey after receiving an invite to training camp from the QMJHL's Gatineau Olympiques.

The 18-year-old Gascon had to sit out last season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so she may be a little bit rusty, but her resume is off the charts. As a 15-year-old in 2018-19 she became the first female goaltender to earn a full-time starting gig in Quebec's midget AAA league, appearing in 18 games. The next season she played even more, with 25 games, and helped her team reach the playoffs.

Gascon has also represented Canada at the U18 world championships and has committed to playing for the University of Minnesota Duluth, so this move to the CHL is a bit of a head scratcher considering it was expected she was going the NCAA route. Time will tell how this camp invite impacts her college career.

As for the Olympique, they are thrilled to have Gascon coming to camp and their general manager and head coach Louis Robitaille had this to say about her game:

It is an honour for us that Ève has agreed to participate in the camp. "She has shown in the past that she can compete at any level. Her pedigree is amazing. She will have the chance to show all her talent during the camp.
