NHL Trade Rumors: Ducks in 'Significant Discussions' on Trevor Zegras Trade

Trevor Zegras is close to being traded by the Anaheim Ducks

It appears that the on-again, off-again trade rumors surrounding Trevor Zegras are hitting a fever pitch, and the Anaheim Ducks are now in "significant discussions" on a trade of the skilled forward.

Insider Elliotte Friedman writes for Sportsnet on Monday morning:

According to multiple sources, the Anaheim Ducks are in “significant discussions” with multiple teams on a Trevor Zegras trade, and the likelihood is growing the talented 24-year-old forward could be traded this week.

Zegras exploded onto the NHL scene with scintillating talent (and highlight-reel plays) and was runner-up for Rookie of the Year in 2021-22, scoring 23 goals and 61 points. He followed that up with a similar season the following year, but has struggled over the past couple of seasons, and trade talk became frequent.

We're now at the deafeningly loud stage of those trade rumors, and we'll keep an eye on it this week as the Draft approaches.

Last season, Zegras, now 24, finished with just 12 goals and 32 points in 57 games while averaging 17:02 ice time per night. That's after an injury-riddled disappointing campaign in 2023-24 in which he played 31 games and found the net just six times. Still, the talent is in there somewhere, and it looks like he'll get the change of scenery he needs to allow it to flourish.
