NHL Rumors: 3 Free-Agency Fits for Penguins' Anthony Mantha

Anthony Mantha, Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins' playoff run ended after their Game 6 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. With this, they now have a decision to make with pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) Anthony Mantha.

Mantha had a great regular season for the Penguins, setting new career highs with 33 goals, 31 assists, and 64 points in 81 games. Due to this, he would generate a lot of interest if he hits the market this summer.

Thus, let's look at three teams who could look to sign Mantha if he tests free agency after his career year.

Detroit Red Wings

Could the Red Wings consider reuniting with Mantha? It is no secret that they could use another skilled winger in their top six, and Mantha could provide them with just that if signed. However, even if he played on their third line, he would have the potential to give them some much-needed secondary scoring.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks should be looking to upgrade their top six this offseason. Connor Bedard needs more skilled wingers around, and Mantha could be a good player for them to bring in on a short-term deal because of it. He is also one of the best pending UFA forwards who can hit the market on July 1, so he could be a player Chicago considers pursuing.

New York Islanders

The Islanders could use another scorer, so they could be an interesting team to watch when it comes to Mantha. He would be a nice pickup for their middle six and would give them another good option to work with on their power play if signed.
