Maple Leafs Sign Teddy Blueger To Two-Year Deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs are adding a veteran center, signing Teddy Blueger as they continue filling out their forward group in free agency.

Per David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, Blueger is signing with Toronto on a two-year deal worth $5 million total. That works out to a $2.5 million cap hit for the 31-year-old, who spent last season with the Vancouver Canucks.

Blueger had nine goals and eight assists for 17 points with Vancouver in 2025-26. His previous deal carried a $1.8 million cap hit, so this is a raise, but it also shows the kind of free-agent market where reliable bottom-six centers do not stay cheap for long.

Why Blueger Fits In Toronto

This is not a flashy move for the Maple Leafs, but it is a practical one. Toronto needed more dependable depth down the middle, and Blueger gives them a left-shot center who can handle defensive minutes, kill penalties, and play a responsible bottom-six role.

That matters for a Leafs team that has spent a lot of recent years searching for the right mix around its stars.

At two years, there is not much long-term risk here. The price is a little higher than his last deal, but the term keeps it reasonable.
